From our crew to yours: launching at the Outdoor Expo
We’re officially launching The Fishing Collective at the Outdoor Expo in Christchurch this October.
Writing that down makes it feel pretty real. It’s exciting, and if I’m honest, a bit scary too.
Until now, so much of what sits behind TFC has belonged to our crew. The fishing trips, the shirts, the laughs and the stories that come home with us. Taking something that means a lot to your mates and putting it in front of people you’ve never met is a different feeling.
You hope they’ll see something of their own crew in it.

The Fishing Collective grew out of getting away fishing together. Over time, the trips and the gear became part of something we shared. Looking back through the photos, there are fish we’re proud of, but there are also dinners, old shirts, boats full of mates and plenty of messing around.
Those moments belong in the story. They’re a big part of why we wanted to take this further.
That’s what we want TFC to carry with it: the enjoyment of fishing, making time to get out there, and the people who make you want to do it all again.
The expo feels like a big next step. We’ll be putting the brand out there properly, showing people what we’ve been working on and finding out how it lands beyond the group that helped inspire it.
There are nerves in that. When something is personal, you care how it’s received. I’m excited to see whether what feels familiar to us also means something to someone stopping at the stand.
The conversations are what I’m looking forward to most. Hearing about other people’s fishing trips, who they head away with, and what keeps them getting the next one organised. Seeing someone recognise a little of their own story in ours would mean a lot.
We’re proud to be taking this step, and grateful to the crew who have been part of it along the way.
If you’re heading to the Outdoor Expo, come and say hello. Have a look at the gear, tell us about your crew, and let us know what you think.
You’ll find us at Canterbury Agricultural Park in Christchurch, 2–4 October 2026, from 9am–4pm each day.
We’re looking forward to meeting you.
